K-9 "Buddy" is trained specifically to assist police and other law enforcement personnel in their duties. Buddy is used to locate suspects who are hiding from apprehension or find missing people or objects. Buddy is also used to detect illicit substances such as drugs which may be carried on a person or their effects.
Buddy was purchased with drug seizure funds in 2019 at a cost of $11,500. Therefore, Buddy's purchase was no burden on the tax payers of Moss Point. However, his services will benefit the public safety and aid in the reduction of drugs in the school system.
