CITY CLERK TRICIA THIGPEN

Tricia Thigpen is the City Clerk for the City of Moss Point. Ms. Thigpen has over nineteen years’ experience in public service and ten years’ experience as a Deputy City Clerk. Ms. Thigpen began her career with the City of Moss Point in May 2018 as the Deputy City Clerk. In this capacity, Ms. Thigpen was responsible for assisting the Office of the City Clerk by developing and preparing agendas for the Board of Aldermen meetings as well as composing the minutes for the meeting. In August 2018, Ms. Thigpen was appointed City Clerk for the City of Moss Point. Ms. Thigpen is a 1985 graduate of Pascagoula High School and attended Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi. Prior to joining the City of Moss Point, Ms. Thigpen worked as the Deputy City Clerk for ten years. Ms. Thigpen is a certified Administration Support Specialist through the MS State Personnel Board. Most recently, Ms. Thigpen completed the City Clerk’s certification and will graduate in June 2020. City Clerk’s Professional Statement: As City Clerk, it is my responsibility to be a steward and protector of the democratic processes, such as elections, and access to official records and comply with federal, state and local statutes. I also have a duty to support the Mayor and Board of Alderman to reach their goals in innovation, transparency, and fairness while promoting community participation and awareness.

CITY ATTORNEY AMY LASSITTER ST. PE’ 

Amy Lassitter St. Pe’ is 1996 the University of Southern Mississippi graduate where she received her BSBA, Received the Parham Bridges Finance and Real Estate Award and the Gulf Coast Association of Realtors Award, Member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Studied International Real Estate, Insurance, and Economics at the London School of Economics in 1996, graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s in Business Administration in 1997, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi College School of Law in 2002 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. In addition to her studies Mrs. St. Pe’ was a Full Academic Scholarship, Senior Editor of the MS College Law Review, a representative for MS College at the Moot Court competition at St. John’s University School of Law in New York, Founding Member of the S.T.A.R. (student, tutoring, assisting and recruiting) Program at MS College, Served as Senator At Large, Published article in Mississippi Medical Journal on Constitutionality of the Death Penalty for the Mentally Ill, she has several certifications Licensed to practice law in the States of Mississippi and Alabama, Licensed to practice before United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi and Alabama, and Licensed to practice before the Mississippi Supreme Court and Mississippi Court of Appeals. She has over 18 years of experience practicing law and been with the city for 12 years. Amy feels, as the City’s adviser, I strive to do my very best for the City of Moss Point, which includes listening to the employees and the Administration, truly understanding the problems the City is faced with and offering solutions that are the most advantageous for the City overall.

HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR ANIKA BUSH

Anika Bush is the Human Resources Manager for the City of Moss Point. Ms. Bush has over five years’ experience in Human Resources. Ms. Bush began her career with the City of Moss Point in February 2018 as a Human Resources Business Partner. In this capacity, Ms. Bush was responsible for benefits, retirement, and orientation for new employees. She also assisted with clerical duties for the Office of the Mayor. Ms. Bush has also worked as a Finance Administration Clerk who was responsible for payroll processing. In August 2019, Ms. Bush was promoted to the Human Resources Manager. Ms. Bush is a 1999 graduate of Gautier High School and received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management in 2008 from American Intercontinental University. Prior to joining the City of Moss Point, Ms. Bush worked as a Human Resources Employee Development Coordinator for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. 

RECREATION & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER BRITTANY JOHNSON 

Brittany Johnson is the Recreation and Community Engagement Manager. Brittany is native of Moss Point, MS, and chose to remain in this area after graduating college. Brittany is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and Belhaven University, where she completed her Master of Business Administration degree. Brittany brings several years of experience to the City, where she worked in several industries such as healthcare and education that helped enhance the quality of life for others. Brittany has been employed with the City of Moss Point for 1.5 years and fully supports the mission and vision of this organization. As an engaged employee, Brittany diligently works to enhance the quality of life for others, while serving the community that structured her foundation. 

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR SUE WRIGHT

Sue Wright has been the city’s Economic Development Director since May 2014. She represents the city as Commissioner for the Gulf Regional Planning Commission, serves on the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the International Economic Development Council Economic Development Policy Committee.

She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and is also professionally credentialed as a Certified Economic Development Professional (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council, as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) by the National Development Council (NDC), and is a Fellow of the Venture Capital Coaching Academy, Innovate Mississippi. Sue previously held Economic Development Director positions at Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, Bay St. Louis, MS; the City of Gulfport, MS and George County Economic Development Foundation. Inc., and chartered the George County Chamber of Commerce in Lucedale, MS.

Her mission in leading the Economic Development Department is to foster an environment to build and sustain a more prosperous city and expand the range of economic and social choices to the citizens of Moss Point. Her global role encompasses working across all city departments and communities, with partners and local, state, and federal agencies, to engage and facilitate investment in people and places. Those roles support the health and security of the community, grow the tax base, develop new and better jobs, and achieve a higher quality of life for all.

Areas of work for the department include existing business retention and growth, new business attraction, enterprise projects, infrastructure, capital projects, planning and studies, government and community affairs, legislative outreach, entrepreneurship, innovation, regulatory matters, workforce development, incentives, and facilitating a unified approach to development services.

CHIEF OF POLICE BRANDON ASHLEY 

Chief Brandon Ashley started his Law enforcement career with the City of Moss Point Police Department as a patrolman in early 2001. Chief Ashley has held various positions and titles within the Moss Point Police Department to include, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Patrol Commander, Deputy Chief, and currently Chief of Police. Chief Ashley is a 2001 graduate of Southern Regional Public Safety Institute and has completed numerous training hours on Law Enforcement topics and leadership, including the FBI Ms. Law Enforcement Command College, First and Second Line Supervision training, and Executive Management Training for Chiefs of Police. Chief Ashley is married to Talonda Ashley and they have four children, Landon, Sadie, Shelby, and Levi. Chief Ashley along with the Moss Point Police Department strive every day to provide the best public safety service to all citizens and visitors of the City of Moss Point. 

CHIEF OF FIRE JUSTIN MCMILLIAN Justin McMillian 

Chief McMillian is currently the Fire Chief in Moss Point Mississippi. Chief McMillian was born and raised next door in Pascagoula and graduated high school there in 1991. McMillian started his career in the fire service in 1995. He completed his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University with two concentrations from the National Fire Academy in Fire Administration and Management and Fire Prevention Technology. He is also a sitting member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Firefighter Qualifications. Chief joined The River City in 2019 and is very excited to be leading the great men and women of the MPFD. Chief McMillian’s goal is to provide a professional, highly qualified service to the communities he serves and to motivate others to do the same.

MUNICIPAL JUDGE KEITH MILLER

Judge Miller is a lifelong resident of Jackson County, MS, except for brief periods in college, law school, and his early legal career. He began his legal career in 1992 working at the law firm of Hopkins, Dodson, Wyatt, and Crawley, in Gulfport, MS. In 1993, he became a Special Assistant District Attorney General and in 1994 became an Assistant District Attorney for Jackson, George and Greene Counties. He has also been a City Prosecutor for Ocean Springs and Moss Point, MS. He later was elected as the District Attorney for Jackson, George and Greene Counties. He currently serves as the Municipal Judge for the City of Moss Point, where he has presided for several years. He also runs Miller Law Offices, PLLC, a criminal defense law firm that was founded in 2004

MUNICIPAL COURT CLERK ASHLEY GARDNER 

Ashley Gardner was appointed Municipal Court Clerk in November 2016. As Municipal Court Clerk, she directs and coordinates the administrative functions relating to the overall operation of Municipal Court in accordance with State laws and City ordinances. Ashley Gardner is a senior student at Ashford University, and currently taking up a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Ashley Gardner presently serves as a member of the Mississippi Municipal Court Clerk’s Association. Ashley Gardner has received numerous certifications through Mississippi Judicial College for mandatory continuing education. Ashley Gardner has five years’ experience in her position and has been employed with the City of Moss Point for over five years. The Municipal Court is dedicated to providing courteous, professional, efficient, and effective customer-oriented service to all who utilize the various services the court provides.

CITY PUBLIC DEFENDER CAMERON MCCORMICK 

Cameron McCormick (McCormick Law Firm) has a private practice in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Since 2016, Cameron has focused his practice primarily in criminal defense, handling hundreds of criminal cases all over the State of Mississippi, including jury trials on charges of drug offenses, capital murder, armed robbery, driving under the influence, and other criminal offenses. Cameron started his career in the Office of the District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District. In 2016, he went into private practice focusing solely on criminal defense. In 2019, Cameron opened his own firm, McCormick Law Firm, PLLC., where he continues to specialize in criminal defense. Cameron has been the Moss Point public defender for the Moss Point Municipal Court since 2017. 

CITY PROSECUTOR ASHLEE COLE HUDSON 

Ashlee Hudson has been a city prosecutor in Moss Point for three years, which she was appointed at the age of 27. She is a special master in Chancery Court, hearing uncontested divorces and other testimony, appointed by former Chancery Court Judge Jaye Bradley. She opened her first law office in Pascagoula in 2014 and a second office in Lucedale in January. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and a law degree from the University of Mississippi. Her focus is on family law.
