State of Emergency Tropical Storm Cristobal
PROCLAMATION OF LOCAL EMERGENCY BY MAYOR MARIO KING
REGARDING TROPICAL STORM CRISTOBAL
WHEREAS, Mayor, Mario King, of the City of Moss Point, Mississippi does hereby find that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within said City of Moss Point, Mississippi due to the impending heavy rain, wind, and flood threat from Tropical Storm Cristobal; and
WHEREAS, at the time of the making of this proclamation, Tropical Storm Cristobal has made landfall in the state of Campeche, Mexico, and could potentially reach the Gulf Coast of the United States by the end of the weekend, bringing with it heavy rain, wind, and flood threat; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid conditions of extreme peril warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local emergency in order to provide for the health and safety of the citizens and the protection of their property within the affected jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, I find and determine that the public interest requires that I proclaim a state of local emergency as authorized by law;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR MARIO KING, HEREBY PROCLAIM that a local emergency exists in the City of Moss Point, Mississippi as of the 4th day of June 2020 due to the impending landfall of Tropical Storm Cristobal; and
BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the City shall exercise all powers and authority granted unto it under the laws of the State of Mississippi to address this emergency.
BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, that this state of local emergency shall continue until the next regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of Moss Point, Mississippi, wherein the same may be ratified, extended, or terminated, if necessary, as provided by law.
