A Season of Gratitude: Mayor Knight's Thanksgiving Message to Moss Point
A season of being thankful
This Thanksgiving week, Mayor Billy Knight shares a heartfelt message with the River City community about gratitude, potential, and working together toward a brighter future.
In his latest River City Chat podcast, Mayor Knight emphasizes the importance of focusing on what truly matters: family, health, and faith.
“If you have family in your life, good health, and a sound mind, that’s a lot to be thankful for,” Mayor Knight said. “If you have God in your life, what else do you need? Nothing. God. Family. Health. You don’t need anything else.”
Reflecting on a Historic Milestone
Mayor Knight also expressed deep gratitude to the residents of Moss Point for their continued trust and support. In the May election, voters made history by electing him to a second consecutive term, marking the first time in 32 years that the City of Moss Point has elected a mayor to two consecutive terms.
“I’m thankful that you guys allowed me to serve you for another four years,” he said. “That was a historic moment.”
Recognizing Moss Point’s Potential
Beyond personal blessings, Mayor Knight encouraged residents to recognize the incredible value and potential of Moss Point itself. He highlighted the city’s beautiful waterfront, natural resources, and strategic location as assets that can drive growth and prosperity.
“We’ve been sitting on this for a long time just enjoying it, but it could be so much better if we work together,” Mayor Knight said. “The value is much greater than it is right now. It’s just like a piece of land. You’ve got a piece of land, but when you put a house on that land and you improve that property with that house and the flowers and nice driveway and all that, that whole thing goes up.”
He reminded residents that Moss Point’s greatest asset is its people, and that unity is essential for progress.
“Our people, our greatest value and our greatest assets, but our people have to be the one to come together to make these things happen,” he said. “I can’t do it by myself, but if we work together, we can get a lot of things done and all of us will benefit from it.”
A Vision for the Future
Mayor Knight emphasized that his vision for Moss Point isn’t just about today. It’s about building a foundation for future generations.
“Everything I want is really not for me. I’m planning this for the future, for your kids, your grandkids, your great grandkids to enjoy this going forward,” he said. “We have a lot of opportunity here that we ought to be grateful for.”
Wishing the Community Well
As families across Moss Point prepare to gather for Thanksgiving, Mayor Knight offered his wishes for a safe and blessed holiday.
“Have family around you. You have plenty of food to eat. You got your health. You got God in your life. You’ll have a great Thanksgiving,” he said. “Let God know how much you appreciate his mercy, his tender care, his love that he gives all of us every day.”
From all of us at the City of Moss Point, we wish you and your families a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving.
