Most residents do not realize it, but Moss Point is home to one of the most advanced water treatment systems on the Gulf Coast.
The Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant, operated in partnership with H2O Innovation, has been providing high-quality purified drinking water to the community since 2009. The system uses advanced reverse osmosis technology to remove salts, contaminants, and impurities from our water supply. The result is clean, crisp, and safe water that meets the highest standards.
This plant is also about smart stewardship. In 2018, H2O Innovation collaborated with the city to identify long-term ways to reduce costs. The installation of Variable Frequency Drives on the plant's motors cut energy use by as much as 15 percent, reducing operational costs and easing the burden on local infrastructure.

The treatment process.
- 01Source & pre-treatment. Raw water is filtered to remove sediment and particulates before entering the plant.
- 02High-pressure pumps. VFD-optimized pumps push water through the reverse osmosis membranes at the correct pressure.
- 03Reverse osmosis membranes. A semi-permeable barrier allows water molecules through while blocking salts, dissolved solids, and contaminants.
- 04Post-treatment & distribution. The purified water is balanced, disinfected, and delivered to homes and businesses through the city's water mains.
