How To Register
Registering to vote is a very easy process. You must fill out a Voter Registration Package using one of the following options:

City Hall – Municipal Clerk’s Office.

The County Courthouse – Circuit Clerk’s Office.

By mail – You can request a Voter Registration Application be mailed to you from the Circuit Clerk’s office or City Clerk’s Office.

Department of Motor Vehicle Safety License posts – Registration is offered when you renew or apply for your driver’s license.

High Schools – Every year the Circuit Clerk visits the county High Schools and distributes the Voter Registration Application


At your local library – You can register to vote at any branch of the Jackson County’s Library System.
League of Women Voters – Nonpartisan grassroots voter registration effort during election year.


Registration Deadline
If you register in the clerk’s office, you may register 30 days prior to the election in which you want to vote.

If mailed, the voter Registration Application must be delivered to your Registrar or postmarked at least 30 days prior to the election.

The Circuit Clerk is Jackson County’s Registrar. The Municipal Clerk is Moss Point’s Registrar. You will receive a voter registration ID card by mail shortly after registration.

Political Affiliation
You do not have to register by political party to vote in the state, county, or municipal primaries or general elections.

Pelican Landing Event & Conference Center

All voters in Moss Point will cast their ballots at the Pelican Landing Event & Conference Center. This centralized location ensures a streamlined voting experience for all residents.

Everyone who possesses the following qualification is entitled to register to vote: a citizen of the United States or a legal resident of Moss Point for 30 days or more.

Additional Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or a 17 year old, who will be 18 by the General Election is allowed to vote in the primaries.

Voters must be registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the election.

Once you are registered, you generally remain registered indefinitely, unless you move or no longer meet one of the qualifications to vote. (However, names are purged from the voter list for failure to vote for a substantial period of time, death or imprisonment.)

What to Bring
Mississippi law requires voters to present an acceptable form of photo identification. Examples include a driver’s license, state-issued ID, passport, or other government-issued photo ID.

Absentee Voting

If you know that you will be voting absentee, contact your Circuit or Municipal Clerk at least one month before the election for more information.

If you are unable to vote at the precinct on the day of the election you may be able to vote absentee ballot. For Municipal Elections contact the City Clerk’s office for more information and deadlines to vote absentee. For County, State and National Elections contact the Circuit Clerk’s office.

An elector may cast an absentee ballot in person at the registrar’s office during the 45 day’s advance voting period of Monday through Friday of the week immediately preceding the date of the election for the following reasons. No absentee ballots can be cast at the registrar’s office on the Monday preceding an election.

Absentee Requirements

You may vote by absentee ballot in person if you: (Check with Circuit or Municipal Clerk for additional guidelines).

  • Will be absent from your precinct from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on election day.
  • Are 65 years of age or older.
  • Have a physical disability or you are a constant caregiver of a person with a disability.
  • Have medical or work demands.
  • Are an election official.
  • Are observing a religious holiday which prevents you from voting in person.
  • Are required to remain on duty in your precinct for the protection of life, health, or safety of the public.
  • Are going to be out-of-town on business or vacation.
  • Are military out-of-state or country

Voter I.D. Requirements

A photo ID showing current name and address is required at the polls for all first time voters who registered by mail and has not previously provide a copy of ID.

Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • Bank Statement
  • Paycheck – Government Check – Other government document that shows the name and address of the voter.
  • Utility Bill

If no ID, vote a provisional ballot. Ballots are then counted on Election Day, so there is no period of time after casting a provisional ballot with which to prove identity, unless the voter returns to the polls with ID later that same day.
