
Our mission is to provide quality services in a timely manner and protect the health and safety of our utility consumers. Contracted with ClearWater Solutions, LLC., Moss Point’s Public Works Department is responsible for proficiently maintaining gas, water, sewerage, drainage, solid waste and street maintenance services. We also take pride in the maintenance of rights-of-ways, city green lots, and routine maintenance of city buildings.
Public Works is organized into two separate divisions. (Streets Division and Utilities Infrastructure Division) – Within these divisions, there are (9) departments which consist of Sewer Collections, Water Distribution, Sewer Lift Stations & SCADA, Natural Gas Maintenance & Operations, Right-of-way Mowing & Maintenance, Street Operations & Maintenance, Building & Grounds Maintenance, City Fleet (Equipment and Vehicle) Maintenance and Supply warehouse & Inventory operations.

Manage, operate and maintain City’s (clean, unplug) drainage system, catch basins and ditches. Install, remove, replace broken and/or collapsed concrete basin. Stream bank erosion grade, shape and stabilize.
The city is serviced by both Mississippi Power and Singing River Electric Power Association. Manage, operate and maintain City’s Lift station. Replace, repair leaks (1′ – 6′ depth), deteriorated sewer line, main, main holes.
Clean and unplug overflow sewer line problems. Locate and mark sewer lines. Install new sewer tap and sewer lines. Camera sewer lines when deemed necessary. The City requires mandatory hookup where sewer is available. Wastewater transportation and treatment is contracted out to the Jackson County Utility Authority.

Provide for maintenance and up-keeping of City’s grounds around parks, municipal buildings, and recreational playing surfaces. Perform routine facility maintenance and cleaning, excluding janitorial, at City owned building.

Also, Waste Pro is involved in recycling operations on the City’s behalf.
This service will be handled by both Public Works and Building Inspection Department. Buildings should be constructed according to zoning and code ordinances. Drainage, culvert and curb should be designed to regulations.

Public works is responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of these facilities. Perform functions such as paving projects, filling potholes and minor street repairs. Installing, replacing street signs, removing of street debris, placement of safety hazard signs and four-way stop signs.
The City contracts with Utility Partner to manage operate and maintain City’s Reverse Osmosis Plant. The City however will be responsible for water distribution systems, wastewater collection and conveyance systems.
This shall include designate water wells, water storage tanks, water distribution lines, sewage and pumping stations. The city will maintain and repair all water leaks and lines associated with water distribution. Install new water and sewer taps, and associated meter installation. The City requires mandatory hook up where water is available.
