Crystal Rodgers Earns Certified Municipal Clerk Designation

The City of Moss Point is proud to recognize Deputy Municipal Clerk Crystal Rodgers for earning the Certified Municipal Clerk designation during the 2025 Mississippi Municipal League Conference held in Biloxi.

This designation is awarded only to municipal professionals who complete an intensive three year program developed by the Mississippi State University Extension Service. The program is accredited by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, a professional organization that serves municipal clerks across the United States, Canada, and more than a dozen other countries. The curriculum includes 30 specialized topics such as municipal law, public ethics, personnel management, records administration, and financial operations. Participants are required to complete formal instruction and pass multiple assessments to demonstrate their knowledge and readiness.

Crystal’s certification is not only a personal milestone but also a professional achievement that brings value to the City of Moss Point. Her role as Deputy Clerk involves a wide range of responsibilities that require both legal understanding and procedural accuracy. Earning this designation demonstrates her commitment to upholding high standards in local government and serving the citizens of Moss Point with professionalism and integrity.

“Municipal clerks play an essential role in local governments and communities in the state,” said Jason Camp, an instructor with the Extension Center for Government and Community Development. “Their positions require a wide range of expertise in local, state and federal laws. Graduates of this program are better prepared for the complex nature of their job.”

This program is jointly supported by the Mississippi Municipal Clerks and Collectors Association and the MSU Center for Government and Community Development. It has served as the designated provider of official municipal clerk training in Mississippi since 1973.

The City of Moss Point commends Ms. Rodgers for this accomplishment and looks forward to her continued leadership and service within the City Clerk’s Office. Her dedication reflects the high standards the city expects from its municipal team and strengthens the foundation of trust and accountability between city government and the public it serves.
