Roar on the River Drag Boat Races 2025

Roar on the River Returns: High-Speed Drama on the Water

Get ready for noise, speed, and some of the most intense racing you’ll see all year.

Roar on the River is back November 15-16, 2025, and if you’ve never experienced drag boat racing, you’re in for a ride. Even from the shore.

What Is Drag Boat Racing?

Think drag racing. Now put it on water. Boats running side-by-side down a 660-foot course, engines screaming, speeds hitting 90 to 100 mph in seconds. It’s raw power, precision driving, and the kind of adrenaline that makes you forget you’re standing still.

The Outboard Drag Boat Association (ODBA) brings racers from across the Southeast: Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. These aren’t casual weekend boaters. These are competitors who’ve spent thousands of hours and dollars building machines designed to do one thing: go fast.

Two Days of Action

The event runs both days from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Moss Point Riverfront. Multiple classes compete based on engine size and power output, with some boats pushing 600 horsepower. That’s more power than most cars on the highway.

You’ll see eliminations, head-to-head matchups, and the kind of close finishes that get the crowd on their feet. When two boats cross the line separated by hundredths of a second, you feel it.

More Than Just Racing

This is a family-friendly event with food trucks, vendors, and plenty of space to set up and enjoy the day. Kids love the noise and the action. Adults appreciate the engineering and the skill it takes to control that much power on water.

Vendors will have everything from BBQ to cold drinks. Bring a chair, find a spot along the riverfront, and settle in. Between heats, walk around, talk to the racers, check out the boats up close. These competitors are happy to talk about their setups and what it takes to compete at this level.

Why Moss Point?

Racers and vendors consistently say Moss Point is one of the best venues on the ODBA circuit. The riverfront provides great viewing angles, the facilities are solid, and the community shows up. That combination makes this a must-attend stop for competitors and fans alike.

The event is hosted by the Moss Point Main Street Association in partnership with the Outboard Drag Boat Association. It’s become a signature event for our riverfront, drawing spectators from across the region.
