River Jamboree 2026 is shaping up to be the biggest celebration in the event’s history. For the first time ever, the beloved Moss Point tradition is expanding to two full days on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 at Downtown Riverfront Park. This year’s theme says it all: “It’s a Celebration.”
And there is plenty to celebrate. River Jamboree 2026 marks two major milestones at once. The City of Moss Point turns 125 years old, and the nation honors its Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. That combination of hometown pride and national patriotism sets the stage for a festival unlike anything the River City has seen before.
A Tradition More Than Four Decades Strong
The River Jamboree has been a cornerstone of life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for more than 40 years. What began as a community gathering along the Escatawpa River at Riverfront Park has grown into one of the most anticipated annual events in Jackson County. Families have made it a tradition. Neighbors reconnect over plates of food and the sound of live music echoing across the water. For many residents, the Jamboree is the event that defines the spirit of Moss Point.
Past years have brought crowds out for the legendary Trash Pot Cookoff, free pontoon boat rides along the scenic waterways, a kids zone packed with games and inflatables, a senior zone, train rides, a car expo featuring classic and custom vehicles, live entertainment from Gulf Coast artists, local vendors and small businesses, and museum exhibits showcasing the city’s rich history.
River Jamboree 2026 will carry all of that forward while raising the bar with an expanded schedule and new attractions.
Introducing the Moss Point Idol Competition
One of the most exciting additions to this year’s Jamboree is the Moss Point Idol Competition. Local performers will take the stage and showcase their talent in front of their hometown crowd. The timing could not be better. Moss Point’s own Daniel Stallworth, a music teacher from right here in the River City, is currently competing in the Top 20 on American Idol and making the entire Gulf Coast proud. His journey is a reminder that extraordinary talent lives in this community, and the Moss Point Idol Competition gives local artists a stage to prove it.
Celebrating 125 Years of Moss Point
The City of Moss Point was incorporated in 1901 at the junction of the Pascagoula and Escatawpa Rivers. For 125 years, this community has been defined by its connection to the water, its resilience through storms and challenges, and the strength of the people who call it home. From the historic downtown and the majestic live oaks draped in Spanish moss to the riverfront parks and the neighborhoods that have shaped generations, Moss Point carries a story worth celebrating.
River Jamboree 2026 is that celebration. It is a chance for longtime residents to reflect on where we have been and for newer members of the community to experience the pride and heritage that make this city special.
America’s 250th Birthday
This year also marks the 250th anniversary of the United States. Communities across the country are finding ways to honor that milestone, and Moss Point is joining the celebration in true River City fashion. The Jamboree will weave patriotic themes into the festivities, connecting our local heritage to the broader story of the nation.
