📰 Moss Point Residents Invited to Help Shape Disaster Recovery Plan
The Mississippi Development Authority is calling on the people of Moss Point to speak up about how millions in federal disaster recovery funds should be spent. A public meeting will be held Monday, May 19 at 6 PM at Moss Point City Hall, and every voice matters
This meeting is part of a series of statewide public hearings focused on the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program, which is set to bring nearly 135 million dollars to areas hit hard by natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. Moss Point is one of the cities included in the action plan along with Hinds County, Humphreys County, Monroe County, Scott County, and Sharkey County
These funds are intended to restore housing, rebuild public infrastructure, and support economic development in the hardest hit areas. According to Governor Tate Reeves, the goal is to ensure every dollar goes where it is needed most, and that happens when local citizens help guide the process
This is not a routine town hall
This meeting is a chance to directly influence how disaster relief money is used in your city. If you or someone you know was affected by last year’s storms or flooding, your input can help make sure those needs are met. From damaged homes and failing infrastructure to struggling businesses and displaced families, this plan touches it all
