Moss Point Fourth of July: Parade, Park, and Time Capsule

The Moss Point Fourth of July fills Saturday, July 4, 2026 with two celebrations in one day. The morning brings the Great Magnolia Homecoming, themed “Monarchs in the River City,” with exhibits and a groundbreaking at Magnolia Park and the Great Magnolia Homecoming Parade. The afternoon moves downtown to the riverfront for “Celebrate America 250,” with music, food trucks, and a 50th anniversary time capsule ceremony. The Great Magnolia Homecoming at Magnolia Park

The morning centers on Magnolia Park, directly across from Magnolia Middle School at 4630 Magnolia Street. Parks and Recreation opens the Magnolia Park Renovation Project Exhibits at 8:00 a.m., the City of Moss Point breaks ground on the project at 9:00 a.m., and the exhibits close at 10:00 a.m. as the parade lines up across the street.

The Great Magnolia Homecoming Parade

At 10:00 a.m., the Great Magnolia Homecoming Parade steps off from Magnolia Middle School and travels a loop of about 3.3 miles through the heart of the city before returning to the school. Marchers head south on Magnolia Street to Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, east to Main Street, then south on Main to Meridian Street. From there the route runs east on Meridian to Macphelah Road, north on Macphelah back to Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, and west to Magnolia Street for the trip home. Celebrate America 250 on the riverfront

At noon, the day moves downtown to the riverfront along the Escatawpa, where the City of Moss Point’s “Celebrate America 250” festivities begin with live music and food trucks. At 1:00 p.m., the 50th Anniversary Time Capsule Ceremony marks the half century since July 4, 1976. Fifty years ago, the community sealed a time capsule and buried it here; at 1:25 p.m. the City unveils that original capsule and buries a new one in its place, sealed to be opened in another fifty years. The moment fits the year: Moss Point was founded in 1901 where the Escatawpa and Pascagoula Rivers meet, and 2026 marks its 125th anniversary.
