Residents will have their say at the Moss Point budget hearing on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., when the City presents its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2027 at Moss Point City Hall, 4320 McInnis Avenue. Every citizen is invited to attend, speak for a reasonable amount of time, and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.

What the proposed FY 2027 budget looks like
The City is currently operating with projected total budget revenue of $25,601,513. Twenty-four percent of that amount, or $6,138,700, is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For fiscal year 2027, the proposed budget projects total revenue of $32,772,316, with nineteen percent, or $6,200,087, proposed to be financed through the total ad valorem tax levy. All figures come from the official notice signed by City Clerk Tricia Thigpen.
No increase in the millage rate
The proposal holds the ad valorem tax millage rate at the current fiscal year’s level. That means you will not pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment, or rental real property, unless the assessed value of your property has increased for fiscal year 2027.
