Moss Point CDBG Public Hearing Set for Monday, September 28

Residents are invited to the Moss Point CDBG public hearing on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the City Hall Boardroom, 4320 McInnis Avenue. The City will present its revised 2026 Annual Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant program and take comments on how the money should be used. Residents, business owners, and community members are all welcome.

What changed in the 2026 Annual Action Plan

When the City held its first two hearings in June and July, it expected to receive about $97,999 in Community Development Block Grant funds for the 2026 program year. The plan has since been revised to reflect the current funding amount of $93,019. Combined with $41,776.45 in unspent funds from prior years, the City expects to have $134,795.45 available for the program year that runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. Each project budget was adjusted to match. This is the fifth and final year of the City’s 2022 to 2026 Consolidated Plan.

Proposed activities for Program Year 2026

The revised plan proposes funding for five activities. Each one must meet a HUD national objective: benefiting low- and moderate-income residents, preventing or removing slums and blight, or meeting an urgent community need.

• Administration and planning: $18,603.80 to run the CDBG program
• Fire and safety equipment: $2,864.97 in prior-year funds to purchase equipment for the Moss Point Fire Department serving low- and moderate-income neighborhoods
• Code enforcement: $25,000 to identify and correct unsafe conditions in homes and neighborhoods, such as structural hazards, fire risks, and unsanitary conditions
• Demolition and slum and blight clearance: $49,415.20 to remove unsafe, blighted structures in low- and moderate-income areas
• Housing rehabilitation (HVAC): $38,911.48 to help low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled homeowners with repairs to the homes they live in, including heating and air systems
