Hands-On Cooking Classes for Adults: Cooking Matters at Vancleave Public Library
Cooking healthy meals shouldn’t feel overwhelming. This summer, adults in the Vancleave area have a new opportunity to boost their kitchen skills and nutrition knowledge with the Cooking Matters program at Vancleave Public Library.
This six-week course, held every Wednesday from June 25 through July 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, connects participants with trained educators who walk you through every step of food preparation. From reading food labels to using a knife properly and even cutting up a whole chicken, these classes focus on real skills you can use every day.
But Cooking Matters goes beyond recipes and technique. Each week, you will also learn about grocery shopping, budgeting for healthy meals, and basic nutrition—giving you the tools you need to make healthier choices for yourself and your family. After each of the first four classes, you’ll take home ingredients so you can practice preparing the recipes at home, putting what you learned to work right away.

Participants in past Cooking Matters classes have said:
-
“This class has taught me that food can be healthy and flavorful.”
-
“This course has affected my household greatly. We cook more together and I feel more confident in the kitchen.”
