Public Works Vote: Mayor Knight Invites Residents to Participate in Upcoming Board Meeting

Mayor Knight Invites Residents to Participate in Upcoming Board Meeting

A Call for Community Involvement

Mayor Billy Knight Sr. continues to emphasize transparency and public engagement as the City of Moss Point prepares for its next Board of Aldermen Meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 6:00 PM.

In his latest episode of The River City Chat, Mayor Knight encouraged residents to stay involved in the discussion surrounding the Public Works contract and thanked those who have already reached out to their aldermen. He urged everyone to take the next step by attending the meeting in person to share their views.

How the Meeting Will Work

Because seating is limited to 88 people, the Mayor requested that each ward ensure representation by selecting one spokesperson to speak on behalf of their community. Whether in favor of or against the proposed selected contractor, each speaker will have three minutes to express their position.

“The goal is fairness to all concerned,” Mayor Knight said. “We can agree to disagree, but we must do so respectfully. Your comments are heard and taken into advisement by the full board.”

To keep the meeting efficient, 30 minutes have been allocated for this public input portion before other city business resumes.

Commitment to Fiscal Responsibility

Mayor Knight reaffirmed the city’s dedication to using tax dollars wisely while ensuring high-quality work across departments. He acknowledged past concerns about workmanship but expressed confidence that with structure and leadership, Moss Point’s Public Works Department can deliver effectively.

“Our goal is to save money and move forward, not backward,” he said. “Every decision we make should serve the people of Moss Point and protect the city’s future.”

Be Present. Be Heard.

The City encourages all residents to attend, observe, and participate in this important discussion. Engagement from every ward helps ensure that city decisions reflect the true voice of the community.
