Solid waste enforcement addresses illegal dumping, improper waste disposal, and related violations of Mississippi law that impact public health, safety, and the environment. These efforts focus on identifying violations and ensuring waste is handled and disposed of properly within the City of Moss Point.

On both public and private property. Local issues are resolved locally; complex cases are referred to county or state authorities.

How it works

From complaint to resolution.

  1. 01How investigations are conducted. When a complaint is received, enforcement personnel review the information and determine whether an investigation is required. Investigations may include site inspections, documentation of conditions, and coordination with other agencies.
  2. 02Role of local and state agencies. Solid waste enforcement is coordinated with Jackson County and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. Local issues are resolved locally; complex cases are referred to county or state authorities under the applicable regulatory authority.
