The City of Moss Point, Mississippi operates this website at cityofmosspoint.org along with a set of online services for residents, including job applications, public records requests, issue reporting, program registration, facility booking, volunteer sign ups, and the community calendar. This Privacy Policy explains how the City collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use these services.

It applies to cityofmosspoint.org and the City service applications linked from it. It does not apply to other websites we link to, which keep their own policies.

  • Program registration may include information about participants, including minor children, along with emergency contacts.
  • Issue reports may include a location or address and any photos you choose to upload.

Payment information

When you pay for a program or facility, your payment is processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. The City does not collect or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools record standard technical details such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you view, and the site that referred you. This is gathered through cookies and similar technologies to help us operate, secure, and improve the site.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Information you submit to the City may be subject to disclosure under the Mississippi Public Records Act, except where the law protects it. We withhold sensitive identifiers, such as Social Security numbers, from public disclosure.
  • Others when required, to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, and safety of residents, City staff, and the public.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information you share with us. Sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers submitted through our employment portal, is encrypted. Our sites are served over secure HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to those who need it.

Cookies and analytics

You may also stop non-essential emails by following the instructions in the message, and you can manage cookies through your browser. Information the City must keep for recordkeeping or legal compliance may be retained even after a deletion request.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by Mississippi public records and records retention laws, after which it is securely disposed of.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be posted here.
